Diggers Cove, an indoor sand playground in Plano, Texas, wanted to add technology-driven experiences that gave kids more ways to explore, play, and interact. It also wanted the “wow factor” families expect from a modern entertainment venue.
Kids Jump Tech supplied and installed several types of interactive playground equipment for the project: an interactive sandbox, Animated Drawings, and an immersive party room with projection on both the table and wall.
Each system created its own interactive zone in the venue, and together they fit right in with the playground’s existing concept.
Multiple Interactive Experiences in One Indoor Playground
The project was built around several interactive experiences, not a single attraction. Each installation plays a different role within Diggers Cove:

Interactive AR Sandbox for Hands-On Play
One of the installations at Diggers Cove was an Interactive AR Sandbox, which combines physical sand play with real-time digital projection.
The system reads changes in the shape of the sand surface and projects visual effects onto it. As kids reshape the sand, the projected environment shifts with it. Terrain, water, landscapes, and other animated elements form and change as they play.
At Diggers Cove, the bright projection turns the entire sand surface into a colorful interactive environment. Children build, reshape, and explore the physical sand, and the digital layer makes it all more visually engaging.
The interactive sand table also offers a different kind of experience than the venue’s larger wall-based installations. Kids don’t just watch a projection from a distance. They gather right around the table and get their hands on the physical play surface.
Animated Drawings – Bringing Children’s Artwork to Life
Diggers Cove also got Animated Drawings, a system that turns children’s artwork into animated characters on a large projected wall.
Children create or color a drawing, scan it, and then their artwork shows up inside a digital environment. The animated character keeps the visual details of the original drawing and becomes part of the projected scene.
At Diggers Cove, the scene has a dinosaur theme, so children’s creations share a large digital world with other animated characters.
The setup combines drawing, scanning, projection, and digital animation in one experience. Kids don’t stop at a finished picture on paper. They watch their creation come to life on the wall within seconds.
This kind of activity adds a creative side to the playground. And it connects hands-on drawing directly to digital play.

Immersive Party Room with Table and Wall Projection
The party room turned out to be one of the most visually distinctive parts of the Diggers Cove project.
It doesn’t rely only on furniture and static decorations. Instead, the room uses projection on two major surfaces: digital content covers the long party table, and a second projection fills the wall in front of guests.
The finished installation shows how the two surfaces work together around a single theme. In the photos from Diggers Cove, construction equipment, cranes, caution tape, and other themed visuals stretch across the wall and table. The whole room becomes part of the entertainment.
This way, the party experience doesn’t end at the main playground area. When kids walk into the room, they’re still surrounded by themed digital content rather than stepping into a conventional party space.
For an indoor playground or family entertainment center, it’s also another way to set birthday parties and group events apart without depending entirely on permanent physical décor.
Supporting Diggers Cove Before Opening Day
Installing interactive technology is only part of a commercial project. The systems also have to be ready when the venue starts welcoming customers.
That mattered most in the days right before the Diggers Cove opening.
Two days before launch, the team ran into a minor issue while getting the interactive systems ready. With the clock ticking, remote troubleshooting alone wasn’t enough.
So Ivan from Kids Jump Tech flew from Florida to Texas himself and spent more than 12 hours onsite with the Diggers Cove team to make sure everything was running as expected.
The goal was simple: have the systems fully ready for customers on opening day.
